Android app developers get the Glassware API

Android app developers have been waiting for the glass and it seems it is going to arrive soon. Recently Google has announced the guidelines for the developers who would kick start the app development process for Google glass.  According to the guidelines published by Google it is clear that the various functions of the apps will not take place in the device but at the Google servers. Thus, the glass will act more like a command device with its brain placed in the cloud servers of Google.  The developer API for Glass also suggests a number of best practices for android app developers. The guidelines suggest that the apps must be built keeping the glassware in mind. The android app developers should thoroughly test the apps while resisting addition of loud notifications that might annoy the users.

The implication of the glassware technology tilts the balance towards Google by a huge magnitude. If Google succeeds to get it across a substantial base of users, it will be able to generate a lot of data in 3d street view mapping. Not only that, users using the glassware would use their Google account information and help in verifying every nook and corner of streets across any country. Thus the accuracy and value of Google map services would be unfathomable.

On the other better maps would further increase the value of android as android apps will have a better mapping service if Google choose to ditch Apple. If not, Apple might contribute to a few billion dollars for the Google map services for running them in the iOS apps.

The idea of Google glass is exciting but we will have to wait weather people embrace the idea of wearable computers.
